Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation) in Germany

Photobiomodulation centers in Germany typically use one of three setups: full-body panel beds (the higher-end, often Joovv or Trifecta models, €60–90 per session), localised panels for targeted treatment (€30–50), or in-skin LED masks as adjuncts to facials and beauty treatments. Most use red (630–660 nm) and near-infrared (810–850 nm) wavelengths in pulsed or continuous modes.

The German market is more conservative than the US scene — fewer outsized claims, more centers positioning themselves around defined indications: skin rejuvenation, post-workout recovery, hair regrowth, and circadian regulation. Hautärzte (dermatologists) often use medical-grade PBM as adjunct to acne and rosacea treatment, distinct from the wellness-tier offerings.

What to verify: power density (mW/cm²) and wavelength specification on the equipment used. A panel that markets 'red light' without specifying these is selling brand. The literature (Hamblin 2017, Anders 2019) supports specific dose-ranges — typically 4–60 J/cm² depending on tissue depth — and most German centers will provide these specs on request.
